East Side Kitchen is a volunteer-run, donation-based initiative of Jewish Silver Lake dedicated to helping neighbors in need with kosher meals and food boxes.

“Our goal is simple: to ensure that families and individuals facing difficult times can still celebrate with dignity, warmth, and community support.”
The program began during the Los Angeles fires in early 2025. When many Angelenos were evacuated or lost their homes, our community quickly came together. Volunteers cooked, packed, and distributed thousands of kosher meals over two weeks to anyone who needed support.
What began as an emergency response quickly grew into something lasting. Today, East Side Kitchen continues to serve the community by providing food boxes and meals before Shabbat, holidays, and other times throughout the year.
East Side Kitchen is entirely powered by community support — volunteers who give their time and donors who help make every meal possible.
